1967-Peter and Nick Mussalem.
Pete was one of my first friends. The family lived only half a block away on 64th Ave. Don’t know if he is alive today. He had an awful drinking problem which I believe screwed his head and turned him into a vegetable. Unbeknownst to me the whole family had a drinking problem. Pete’s mother hid it the best and only shook a bit.
When Jo and I came back from Europe Nick offered the cabin next door to us. We said yes! A few years later we moved out (I had bought a house in North Van). In the cleanup I left the complete encyclopedia that my mother had given us with the intention of picking it up later. I got a call from Nick saying that somebody had broken it to the cabin and stole all the books. He said that he knew who the robbers were and did I want to get them back? Didn’t take me long to figure out that a car full of Encyclopedias was the last thing I needed. Nope! We left it at that.
Fix up.
