Howard White, the publisher, told me that he used to fly up to Powell River, sticking close to the coast. He told me that in the early days the waters were solid with Herring spawn. He watched the phenomena slowly disappear over the years.

The Herring Fishery was huge between Hornby and Denman for years. The fish would span in different areas every year prompting desperate searches every year.
