Kathi got this up at recycling. It doesn’t have an alarm, timer, date or any of the other stuff new watches boast of. You pull the little crown and you can set the time. Push it in and that’s it!
It reminds me of the one I wore in high school. Although, to be cool, I wore it underneath.
Then I got a job in a sawmill. “Oh you can’t wear that here, too much danger of it getting caught” Then a Foundry “Sorry, no watches or jewelry here, too much danger” And another Foundry, same story.
Belnor(1961) Another story I’ll tell you another time.
I signed on a freighter to Japan. “Oh no, no watches here”
Then I worked up at the Pace River Dam. “No jewelry” Actually, no long hair either as one guy got his caught in the long conveyor belt. Killed him!
OK, Then I got a job in a photo shop, Focus Prints. At last I could wear my watch! Nope, apparently the darkroom chemicals would ruin the watch and brand my arm with a distinctive tattoo.
Then Hornby and Highways Department, house building, darkroom etc. You guessed it!
I’m retired. Feels strange this thing on my wrist.
For most of your life, you’ve been timeless, Bob.
Well told story Bob
