That’s my uncle Herbert with my mom. He was a fisherman on the Fraser river (Glen Valley). He had a small Gill netter and he pulled the net in by hand. (tough work). One time I was on the boat with him he told me he couldn’t swim. I asked him “What are you going to do if the boat sinks?”. “Oh”, he said ” See that dishpan over there? If the boat sinks I’ll put that over my head, sink to the bottom and walk to shore”. I was both young enough to believe him and old enough to find his story a little fishy.
