well, my 49 year-old recollection is that sometimes
Albert and Leo and George made you back on or
back off just for the hell of it
I vaguely remember that toward the end of the Lorraines life that one of the ramps stopped working. Not fixed because she was due to be replaced. This is a 46 year old memory so you could be right. I do remember backing on the Rolf Brun (replacement) .
Great shots, Bob. I’m so glad you were there to catch these.
I see your old notes on there but I’m sure you didn’t have to back on at Denman. The ferry backed out at Denman, crossed, then backed around and in at Hornby. Going from Hornby to Denman was all the same direction, much like the Horseshoe Bay to Nanaimo ferries were where you came straight over one way but the ferry had to back out and back in on one way.

A semi-practical use for my 10,000 historical photos
CRM, You could be right. They were rascals!
